Good news: I will be getting chickens this summer! And, if things go my way, possibly a rabbit or 2!
Bad news: No sheep on the horizon.Yet. My neighbor has this huge field that he isn’t doing anything yet. I’m thinking if I make him enough pies and soften him up a bit he’ll eventually cave in and rent it to me so I can become the town shepard.
I’ve been wanting chickens of my own for a long, long time but never really had the opportunity (or space) until now. The rabbits are for my personal obsession with all things wool. Here rabbit, rabbit, rabbit. I’ve become such a country girl in the last couple years. I’m super excited about spring to get started on the garden out back too. Which reminds me I need to dig out my backyard homesteader books this weekend and get started on deciding which veggies and herbs are going where and how much of each we need. If things go according to plan we’ll have some big orders to fill. 2012 is definitely the year of Getting Shit Started.
Also, I’m so ridiculously glad it’s Friday. I’m dead tired but don’t want to go to bed because I want to read and knit and watch tv and watch movies and stare at yarn on Ravelry and look at patterns and bake some stuff and organize the cupboards and play with the dogs and and and and…there’s not enough hours in the day. I don’t know how people with kids do it.
