Knitting Projects: the Future Looks Warm

I’ve been super anti-social, anti-people, anti-everything lately and yet I haven’t been doing a lot of knitting or reading. In fact, I can’t even really tell you what I’ve been doing the last couple weeks except just existing and yelling at strangers.

Last night I sat down with my needles, yarn and a project book and got to work knitting and planning future projects.

The 11th Hour Blanket is a must. But I need size US 35 needles first.

I’m thinking the Lacy Chunky Throw will replace the current blanket I’m doing for my mom. Right now I’m doing the Quaker Rib Afghan  for her, but I’m not feeling it as much as I should.

If you can have a crush on a blanket, I have a crush on Hip To Be Square. It is perfect in every way. Knit in one piece, looks great AND can easily be worked on while watching Game of Thrones, Mad Men and Girls. Everything I look for in a blanket.

Montana Scarf…finally finished

This is definitely the biggest, baddest scarf on the block. It took me a few weeks to finish it and I lost steam somewhere around the halfway mark, but hallelujah! it’s done. And it looks pretty friggen great.

Oh, early Montana scarf progress photo, we’ve come a long way…

It measures 9.5 inches wide and 100 inches long. I made a few modifications from the original pattern  but I think it turned out pretty awesomely. It will definitely keep whoever is wearing it warm during the winter months.

A Creative Space

I think the thing I love most about my house is the fact that I can have my own room. I don’t mean a bedroom but a getaway room, a creative space that I can lock myself in and no one will bother me. It’s not a big room and right now it’s painted the colors that the last tenant chose (an awful pastel pink and green..ugh). I haven’t had the time or money to really do anything with it since we moved in except put various images on the wall of inspiring fashion and people. But now I’m inspired to make my room a bit more me and a bit more colorful. I think I’ve settled on turquoise for the walls. I can’t wait.

Knitty Web Friday

Ravelry hit 2 million users on February 29, 2012! Who said knitting wasn’t popular? Yay Rav!

The 3rd Annual Knitting and Crochet Blog Week has been announced for April 23rd-29th 2012.

I recently came across Sand and Sky Creations fell in love. Her knitting projects are beautiful, her handspun yarn is inspiring and the woman herself is gorgeous.

Spinning yarn and knitting a way to unwind, says article. Stating the obvious.

Apparently Catherine Zeta-Jones knits. And this is shocking why?

Also, you forgot to remind me to start the Month of Craft Photos challenge! it’s ok I’ll catch up this weekend!

This Anatomical Knit-Hood Series is kind of weird…yet awesome

From the Guardian archives, 1961…

“The urge to knit is surely the most moral force in the world. Knitting is industrious, economical, virtuous, therapeutic, mildly creative and above all tranquillising. Research would show that knitting wives never become nervous wrecks and that it is never knitting girls who break up happy homes. Conversely it would be found that the Other Woman never knits.
